This exciting class is taught on the Klickitat River and
is designed for beginning kayakers who have taken our
three-week pool class or has had previous pool practice
and are ready to experience the river for the first time.
To prepare students for their first river experience,
class will start with a safety talk that will cover safety
concepts and communicating on the river. Then students
and instructors will paddle through easy but fun class
two rapids, giving students the opportunity to practice
reading white water. Slow moving pools separate rapids
so students can practice their roll in the river. Students
will learn the eddy turn, peel out, ferry, and swimmer
rescue with a throw-bag. This class will teach students
to kayak safely and will start them on their way to being
a self-sufficient Class II kayaker.
